Round 3 Seniors Match Report

Eltham Collegians:  6.7-43

MHSOBFC:  16.17-113

The Unicorns were keen to make it back on the winners list and there was no better way than producing a win on the road out at Eltham.

After slow starts in both Round 1 and 2, the ‘Corns burst out of the blocks stunning the Turtles with early goals from a lively forward line, however the home side quickly steadied, working their way back into the game to reduce the margin to 15 points at the first change. Strong work rate across all areas of the ground saw the Unicorns boys take control for the remainder of the match. After Eltham bagged 4 goals in the first, a very honest back six, led by key backs Will Maurice and Zac Smooker, kept the Turtles goalless in the second quarter.

The ‘Corns engine room lifted another gear to give the forwards an opportunity to continue the scoreboard pressure and the goals began to pile on. Key forwards Kane and HRS enjoyed elite delivery from the mids as their 9 goals between them put Eltham to bed. Reports from the game have confirmed Hugh Radcliffe-Smith and Will Maurice are still suffering from altitude sickness after both lodging nominations for mark of the round.

Special congratulations Ant and Hugh who made strong contributions in their senior debut game.
