Bulleen AFC: 3.3-21
On Saturday we saw MHSOBFC away against Bulleen Templestowe. They started really well against us last time we played them in round four so we knew they’d crack in and that it was important to get off to a good start.
Our challenge in the first quarter was to play on at all costs and to have good entries into our fifty. We started really well and adhered to the game style set by Bernie. We kicked six goals to none in the first quarter. The rest of the game followed suit as we were given a new challenge from Bernie each quarter and it was great to see the team react to a new challenge and different game styles but at the same time continue to hit the scoreboard.
Debutant Luke McEvoy had an outstanding first game. His attack on the footy and ball use were very impressive. Max Mazoletti was unselfish all day and provided so many goal assits and played one of his best games for the club.
The game ended as a 160 point victory but I feel like we also got a lot out of the game as a team. Next week we come up against St. Johns who are a similar standard as Bulleen so the challenge will be to once again react together to the instructions layed out by Bernie.
