St. Johns: 13.7-85
It was a memorable day for the Unicorns with the safe arrival of Freya Margert Nicholas – good to see Project has got his priorities straight.
It was always going to be a tough week for the boys with 6 changes to the previous weeks starting line-up. Despite our obvious challenges, the vibe was strong with the group as we seemed to want to prove a point to the competition. On the field, the seniors managed to put up a strong performance against a talented and physical opposition. It just goes to show the quality of depth at the footy club with 3 of the 4 sides having wins on the weekend.
Trailing by three points going into the final term, the corns piled on 7 goals to 2 in a dominant final quarter to win by 30 points. Special mention goes to Bowser who stepped up in Projects absence for his first coaching win. Leading from the front, Bealey put on a dominant display and managed to snag 6 majors.
The word on the street is that Kano is lining up in the 2’s this week. Jimmy Tran, BJ and Ant were at their usual best and continue to play some good consistent footy. Overall, we structured up well and put in a solid 4 quarter effort. However, the challenge lies in the coming weeks. The boys now sit 5th on the ladder and need to beat some good opposition if they’re a chance to play finals.
