Round 16 Reserves Match Report

MHSOBFC        22.22-154

Emmaus St Leos       3.5-23

On Saturday we saw MHSOBFC at home against the Emmaus. After three consecutive loses, it was important to get back to playing our style of footy and regain the confidence we had during the first half of the season.

We had some great names back in the team this week and three on the bench helped with rotations. Something we were lacking the last few weeks. The first quarter didnt quite begin how we would have liked. Emmaus were kicking with the wind and managed to kick 3 goals against the run of play. To our credit we were able to kick 5 against the wind and go into the first break two goals up.

The second quarter we managed to dominate play with the wind and scored 8 goals to their one point. The dominance was lead by our midfield. It was great to have T. Norton back in the side. His ruck dominance and silky touches made our midfielders look untouchable.

The second half continued much the same of the second quarter as we continued to put the foot down and let Emmaus score only 1 point in each of the last two quarters. C. Hewish had another great game and dominated up forward and it was also great to have our vice captain M. Bradshaw back and continuing to play some great footy.

Two more games of the regular season and it’s vital we continue to play like we did on Saturday to keep the confidence sky high as we roll into the finals.

Go Corns!
