Round 3 Senior Match Report

Round 3 Seniors Match report After a slow start to the season, the unicorns were in need of a convincing win to silence any doubts of our 2019 season. An explosive first quarter was a great foundation to build the game off, with Scott Braithwaite and Ashan Wijayakumara presenting well in the forward line and crushing any confidence hawthorn had.

Melbourne high went into quarter time with high hopes yet knowing hawthorn would come out strong in the second. Tim Campelj led the way with tackling intensity, setting the standard for the rest of the day. Hawthorn picked up their game with a 5 goal quarter however the Unicorns answered back with 8.

Coach project set a real emphasis on a four quarter effort from the ‘Corns’ regardless of the 54 point lead coming into the third. Skipper Mitch Wilson paved the way on the front line with courageous efforts and game breaking skill to help extend the already impressive lead. A holistic team effort finished with the unicorns dominating hawthorn and looking to next week’s battle against Glen Eira.
