With a place in the top two on the line, the Jnrcorns venture across the Westgate to take on a red hot Williamstown. It was the leagues best defence (MHS) vs the highest scorers (Willy), in what was poised to be an epic encounter. Willy flexed their muscles early, proving why they are so potent in front of goal, getting the jump on the high school, taking a 4 goal to 1 lead into quarter time. The Jnrcorns finally arrived at the races after Quarter time, with some hard tackling from Al rogers in midfield and elite rebounding work from Tom Golz and the other back six, the game started to turn in our favour. Outscoring willy in the 2nd and 3rd quarters by four goals to two, there was just the one goal in it heading into the last. In standard average Williamstown conditions HRS and Chris Golz provided some excellent link up play for Matty Glover who looked like the most dangerous forward on the ground all day out of Full Forward. However as conditions started to worsen and the game became a scrap, we were unable to claw back the 7 point margin. Still sitting 3rd on the ladder, all to play for the final three rounds to ensure another home elimination final for the Jnrcorns.
