Reserves Round 15 2021

On Saturday MHSOBFC came up against West Brunswick on their home deck. It was always going to be a good game as both sides fought for second spot on the ladder.

West Brunswick started well with the wind and we were too slow to react. They booted the first 5 goals of the game. This first quarter would turn out to be what cost us the game. A few early injuries didnt help, and consequently we only had 1 on the bench for the second half.

The boys fought really hard, especially in the third quarter which was probably our best quarter for the season, keeping West Brunswick to 1 goal against the wind and giving ourselves a chance to win the game.

Although we outscored them in the last three quarters, it just wasnt enough to get the job done. S. Keough, E. Riddle, W. Hart & J. Wood fought hard all day and had really good games for us. It was fantastic to see J. Cullen back playing for the unicorns and he too had a very good game. A. Tran kicked some crucial goals for us and ended the day with 3...another great performance! We learnt plenty this week and I’m confident the boys will bounce back and have a successful finals campaign in the weeks to come.
