Seniors Round 4 2021

The Unicorns returned to the Woodfull Miller for a clash with Power House AFC in Round 4. Immediately you could tell that the Unicorns were settled back at home, as they managed to break out to a meaningful lead in the first quarter. First quarter highlights included multiple goals to returning Unicorn favourite Scott Braithwaite.

¼ Time: MHSOBFC 6-5-41, Power House 1-0-6

There hasn’t been many more enjoyable quarters to watch over the last few years than the second quarter of this game. The Unicorns put the foot down and took control of the game from the moment the quarter recommenced. Dowling was proving an incredible headache up forward as his pace and forward nous was a joy to watch. The Unicorns piled on 11 goals to 2 in the quarter and took a commanding 91 point lead to the main break.

½ Time: MHSOBFC 17-7-109, Power House 3-0-18

The third quarter commenced and it was another high scoring quarter with both teams enjoying a free flowing game style. The Unicorns were able to convert another 8 goals for the quarter, but would have been disappointed to concede four goals to Power House. At the conclusion of the quarter, Dowling had already kicked 8 and Braithwaite 7, so there was a sense that a race to double figures would ensue over the final quarter.

¾ Time: MHSOBFC 25-9-159, Power House 7-1-43

The final quarter saw a restructure forward of the ball and the Unicorns managed to run away to a very strong victory. It was great to see a few players hit the scoreboard who usually wouldn’t be close to the forward 50. Another 7 goal quarter saw the Unicorns break the 200 point mark for the first time in many years. Even Waf was seen scratching his head when asked about the last time this occurred.
