MHSOB met Bulleen Templestowe in another milestone for the home side, with Jamie Radcliffe Smith playing his 100th club game, an incredible achievement for a highly valued player & person after first coming down through the Under 19s.

The first term was an even contest, both teams fighting hard in the middle and around the ground, keeping it tight. Mason Fennessy-Kent and Petro Pirozek were in the thick of it, working hard at the coalface. The Unicorns led at quarter time 3.4-22 to 2.3-15.

With a slender seven-point buffer going into the second, the Unicorns produced some stifling defensive efforts to keep their opponents to a meagre four points. Replicating their first quarter in front of goal; key forward Matthew Pereira, a usual suspect kicked true, as did fellow regular William Hellier. Ending the first half, MHSOB held a healthy 31-point lead, 7.8-50 to 2.7-19.

The third term belonged to the visitors, who played some excellent football with quality ball movement and accurate goal kicking. Down back, Mitch Wilson was kept busy throughout, but Bulleen’s efforts still left them 19 points behind at the end of the quarter, 10.11-71 to 7.10-52.

The final term was, from a neutral’s perspective, underwhelming, as the Unicorns finished the contest early in the term to win by 41 points. Small forward Alex Mourtikas had a superb game with three majors, and Will Suhr was phenomenal in the ruck, down back and around the ground, helping to put the game out of reach.
