Thirds Round 1 2021
R1 vs Williamstown CYMS
The thirds kicked off their season against reigning top of the table Williamstown and celebrated Albert Kuang's 150th game for MHS.
With nearly an entirely new team of players consisting of only 3 of the old 2019 3rds guard, the boys took the field and quickly clicked into gear fighting off a steady stream of forward entries by Williamstown and hitting them on the rebound to kick the first goal of the game.
New recruits Ben Fraser and Aly Schulman found their feet in the middle and the Unicorns fought hard in the first half to be a few goals behind. MHS outplayed Williamstown in the last 10 minutes of the quarter including a run-down tackle from behind by Daniel 'Mousey' Bye which gave MHS the momentum heading into the major break.
Skipper Adam Ashton began taking control in the middle during the third quarter but Williamston kicked 7 unanswered goals and pushed the game beyond reach.
The fourth quarter was back to MHS footy with the pressure and intensity lifting to what it was in the first half, but it was all too late as Williamstown took the win. Albert Kuang in his 150th finished with 22 disposals (he counted) on the wing in a clinical display.
