R12 2023 | Thirds vs Box Hill North AFC

After six long weeks on the road, the Thirds were finally back at the home of amateur football, facing an upwardly mobile Box Hill North AFC.

Past results count for little at this level, so we were excited to finally unite long-serving ruckman Adam Ashton with his heir apparent Charlie Colman for a powerful stoppage double-act. We also welcomed two U/20s, Boopa Munasinghe and Wayd “Waddle” Nash, to keep them match-fit over their bye weekend.

After a cagey first half with both sides trading blows, the Unicorns blew the game open in the second half, with full-forward Jamie Shulman finding his range and Irish import Aaron Moules continuing his week-on-week improvement. Some late ill-discipline made the final score closer than it should have been, but ultimately the win was secured, which also confirmed finals footy with four rounds still to play.

With a few drinks shared by the group that evening, it was a very positive way to head into the bye and a huge run home.
