Reserves Round 3 2021

Manningham Cobras AFC 2.3-15 VS MHSOBFC 18.23-131

On Saturday, MHSOBFC came up against Manningham Cobras on their home deck. The Cobras had come up a grade and we have not played against them before, so weren’t too sure what to expect.

The first quarter was a really good contest. Cobras were going in hard at the footy. We knew we would need to buckle down and play to our strengths to win this game. Their deck was nice and big which helped us spread and play the style of footy we love. The weather was on our side too, with perfect conditions for footy. We ended the first half with an 8 goal lead, however had kicked 15 behinds. It was a good lead but our conversion was certainly our biggest fault of the half.

The second half continued to be a strong performance by our boys, keeping the Cobras goalless and putting on another 10 ourselves. Our fitness and ball skills were the main difference in the end and it was great to see our forwards benefit from this.

O. Sargeant in his 50th game for the club kicked 4 and had plenty of assits to his name. W. Penhalluriack played an outstanding game in an unfamiliar possision of full forward, finishing the day with 5 goals. C. Hewish & S. Bonser had really good games from half back and helped set up a lot of our scoring shots. The mids each had really strong games, helping push the footy our way all day. Another strong performance by the reserves, and with plenty to build and improve on, its looking to be another exciting year for this team. Go Corns!
