Reserves Round 2 2021
R2 vs Old Paradians
MHSOBFC 22.25-157 vs OLD PARADIANS 2.4-16
After a strong week on the track where we worked on some of the deficiencies in our game from the week prior, the Magoos came into the Rd 2 clash against Old Parade with the opportunity to tweak and improve our style of play.
This week we had 3 debutants in Sami, Drew and ‘The Better’ Brancs, whilst we also welcomed back 2s legend Matt Bradshaw.
The first qtr started well with the backline controlling the airways to constantly repel Old Parade’s forward attacks and provide run off half back. The highlight of the Qtr was the end to end goal created from a Switch from Franz to Brancs who ran through the middle, delivered a long kick to Bull who marked and goaded. All within about 15 seconds and without Parade getting near the footy. Matt Bradshaw also kick started his season in style kicking the opening goal of the game.
After a dominant first Qtr, Old Parade responded to wrestle back momentum in the early stages of the second qtr, however, again we were able to get back on top to go into halftime comfortably in front. Our fitness really shone through in the second half with Old Parade unable to keep up with our leg speed, this culminated in a 10 goal last Qtr to run away with a 141 point win.
Nat Campbell was dominant game up forward, marking everything that came his way kicking a game high 7 goals. He was strongly supported by Orlando who consistently made chances out of nowhere.
As they did last week Timma and Al Rogers again provided a strong physical presence, whilst Brancs and Sami on debut also found themselves amongst the best and proved to be strong additions to the team.
