Reserves Round 3 2022
After a week break due to Easter and a disappointing fade away loss to Ivanhoe, The Magoos were ready to give their all against Old Paradians.
It couldn't have been a better day for football, immaculate deck not a cloud in the sky or a breath of wind. Welcoming some new faces to the Magoos Tristan, CJ and returning cattle Chesty, Al and Ham, the lads were ready to roll.
The first quarter started off as a seesaw with neither side able to get the upper hand with a lot of back and fourth occurring, it was hard fought battle running the quarter out both sides netting only one goal each. Second quarter couldn't have started any better, two quick goals and the Magoos were flying, ball was zipping with Evan Riddle controlling the wing by himself, MHSOB had free flowing ball use on the mammoth ground however execution was the downfall that stopped us from piling on more goals throughout the quarter. This let Old Paradians come back into the match piling on two goals quickly and a final snag just before half time, what started as a excellent quarter fell to an 8 point lead for the home side.
Much the same against Ivanhoe the week prior we started the third completely flat and deflated we looked a different team comparing to the previous two quarters. Old Paradians adding 3 goals to their total giving them a 4 goal lead going into the fourth. After an amp up from Matt Brancatisano and Nick Brown the game was in our hands, and some positioning changes and sacrificial roles were implemented. This was evident from the first bounce with a quick clearance and goal to start the quarter the fight back was on, much like the first quarter there was a stalemate for the next 5 minutes back and fourth with no side able to get going. A goal to Old Paradians inspired our comeback Orlando Seelander kicking 3 crucial goals to put us within reach however time wasn't on our side which ultimately got the better of us. Onwards to next week against Aquinas with plenty to work on, if we can address the issue of fading away it'll be the difference of winning or losing.
