Dev squad went into the game against Whitefriars without some key players, however they put in a hard fought performance against a quality side. Both teams were 15 a piece at quarter time, from that moment though the Whitefriars began to take control of the scoreboard, but our boys kept within reach throughout the game led by Joey Pious, David Hook, Will Kruyt and Kev Healy. At three quarter time Coach Adam Tardif delivered a strong message to the young side to “keep up the intensity and hard running and they will fall over” and that’s exactly what happened.

The ball remained in our front half for the majority of the last quarter, Cameron Witt was dynamic in the forward line, but Kev Hammer Healy was not to be outdone. With 5 goals already against his name, with 15 seconds to go the Jnrcorns were 5 points down when Hammer marked the ball 45 meters out on a slight angle, as he went back to take his kick the final siren went which set the scene for the what every football player dreams of doing.

With Whitefriars surrounding him and screaming at him, the ever so cool calm and collected youngster put the ball straight through the sticks to win us the game before he was smothered by his delighted teammates and coaches.

Next week the dev squad have another big challenge against Old Camberwell, but they are definitely up for the challenge and will welcome back Zeus, Dimma, Samson and Archit.
