Jnrcorns Round 10 2021
Fresh off a two-week lockdown-imposed break, the Jnrcorns were relishing a return to footy against Elsternwick, a side that while giving us a little trouble, we beat comfortably last time. The break had brought along 2 debutants in Harry Edgoose and Tom Lackner the brother of Alex Lackner (Bulldog), who were both who were keen to impose themselves within a finals bound team. Furthermore, the team was rejuvenated with the additions of Luke Franze, Xabier Twyman and Al Rogers who’d been plying their trade in the 2s for the majority of the season.
Despite being a fairly large side, Elsternwick were no match for the speed and agility of the youngsters, only able to register 1 goal for the day as the Jnrcorns marched to an 81 point victory. Standout performers were Cam Witt who scored some great crumbing goals in a best on ground performance, and the ever reliable Will Kruyt in the ruck. Aditya Munukutla proved to be too imposing of a target up forward, kicking one goal short of a bag and clunking everything in his vicinity all day. Ben Britbart, Xabier Twyman and Alistair Rogers all put very solid performances in the midfield.
Our victory was unfortunately soured due to a neck injury suffered by Luke Franze in the final quarter trying to get a goal in the forward line. But in true Melbourne High Spirit, everybody stuck around for much longer after the game to ensure his welfare. Such a display of camaraderie was a great testament to the culture we have at MHSOBFC.
