When we last played Whitefriars at their home ground, thanks to a heroic moment from Kev Healy, we won by a point after the siren. This time it was a game to seal our spot in the finals. Joey Pious came into the game with sore ribs, the brave leader decided he was fit to play and it was agreed he would play in the forward line. In the opening quarter the game was scrappy. We were playing well and managed a number of forward entries, just could not convert.

1/4 time: MHSOBFC 2-7-19 to Whitefriars 1-2-8

The second quarter was much the same, what was clear though was that Whitefriars were throwing all they had at us and reduced us to 1 point for the second quarter, but we hadn’t broken out of second gear yet.

1/2 time: MHSOBFC 2-9-21 to Whitefriars 2-9-21

In the effort to enforce some change in the game, coach Adam put Dish and Joey into the backline; Kev Healy into full forward and implemented a small forward line for the first 5 minutes of the quarter which resulted in four goals for MHS including 2 from Kev. Ten minutes into the quarter we discovered that Dinuk has a head made of granite, after an opposition player flattened him with an elbow and the small forward bounced back up, kicked the goal and let him know about it. Our boys were relentless and put the boot to the throat of their opponents with 6 goals for the quarter including a great goal on the run for Harry Edgoose who showed what a quality footballer he is throughout the whole game.

3/4 time: 8-10-58 to Whitefriars 4-9-33

We knew our job was not done. Led by Al Rogers, Will Kruyt, and Kev Healy, our mids continued to provide the engine, new comer Tommy Lackner kicked 3 for the game including a long bomb, and our young stars showed so much promise and growth in their game, we piled on another 5 goals resulting in an 11 goal second half.
