R10 2023 | Thirds vs Mazenod OC

The Thirds ventured out east to play Mazenod OC at Central Reserve in Glen Waverley, hoping to bounce back from a tough loss in the previous week. Among others, the team welcomed back reigning B&F winner Josh Kulasingham, and Charlie Colman made his club debut in the ruck.

Unfortunately, the Unicorns failed to switch on from the start of the game, allowing Mazenod to gain the early momentum. With several physically dominant key forwards to deal with, the team struggled to find the right defensive matchups and ultimately couldn’t gain a foothold in the game. Whilst showing patches of our best footy in the second half, ultimately the home side kicked away and ran out convincing winners by 60 points.

Jye Gillespie worked tirelessly all day out on the wing, and the Shulman brothers Ali and Jamie both toiled hard up forward. Charlie Colman looked promising on debut, which was a bright spot on an otherwise flattening afternoon. The Thirds will look to bounce back this weekend against a resurgent Elsternwick AFC.
